We've moved to the Toffee Factory!

We've had an exciting week at DDCA, as we've spent the last few days moving out of our old home in Maling Court and into our swanky new studio in the Toffee Factory!

Moving to the Toffee factory places us in the type of creative environment where we can continue to thrive and really let our creative juices flow, so its safe to say we are excited! So, what is the history behind this Newcastle landmark? Well, I'm glad you asked.

In its early days the Toffee Factory played host to a cattle sanatorium, a two storey building was built that could hold up to 635 cattle and 3,000 sheep.

The U-shaped building that we now know and love as the Toffee Factory was built after the completion of the glasshouse bridge in 1878 and in the early 1900’s the Ouseburn building appeared to be used as a timber yard.

In 1906 the renowned confectionary company Maynards purchased space in the building and the sweet, sweet toffee making began.

After the factory ceased production in the late 1950’s it was proposed that the building would be demolished following a fire which severely damaged much of the factory. Thankfully renovation began in 2010, and the Toffee factory was developed into the high quality office space for creative businesses and hive of activity that it is today. The Toffee Factory is now home to over twenty digital and creative businesses and we're chuffed to be one of them!

So if you fancy a catch up or a look around our new place then drop us a line and we will get a date in the diary, the kettle is always on!

Our New address is: The Toffee Factory, Lower Steenbergs Yard, Quayside, Ouseburn, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE1 2DF.

We'll see you soon!
