Looking back at Elf Run 2014

It’s hard to imagine a more festive scene than those at Intu Metro Centre and Intu Eldon Square this Sunday, as over 800 of Santa’s elves descended on two of the region’s biggest shopping areas in the name of charity.

Dressed in their trademark green shirts and hats, the elves embarked on a 1K ‘Elf Run’ around the malls before opening time, their long, pointy ears flapping as they dashed through the heart of the retail sites.

Of course, they weren’t really Santa’s elves (Santa’s elves are far too busy preparing for Christmas Eve in the North Pole’s toy building workshops), rather they were an impish collection of children who had entered the run to raise funds (and smiles) for local charities including The Sick Children’s Trust, Children’s Heart Unit Fund and Global’s Make Some Noise!

Our developer, Ed, and designer, Andy, came up with the website and branding for the event after we were approached by the Elf Run’s organisers, Total Racing International. TRI also oversee the Bike for Bobby challenge, raising money for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, as well as several triathlons throughout the region, so it's no surprise that the Elf Run has been a great success.

The money raised is still being counted, but with such a fantastic turnout we reckon smiles will have been put on a lot of faces thanks to the efforts of our little elves! They'll all be on Santa’s ‘Nice’ list this year, that's for sure!
